Food Trip in Divisoria Part 2

Though the DURIAN was sweet and tasty we were still not satisfied; as if we wanted something more. So we transfered to the next cart selling the FAMOUS BALUT!

Wataru showing the inside of the famous egg. He was really looking forward to eat balut and finally ... it just shows from his face.

Food Trip in Divisoria Part 1

Our night just didn't end in the bar. We were so drunk that we didn't want the night to end ... so we went to divisoria and ate DURIAN! Yes! They said that the fruit " Smells like hell but taste like heaven".

This is how a durian looks like. And me eating the fruit with the durian seller.

Night out in a bar

After our dinner in Dear Manok we went to a bar to drink more beer and enjoy the night. Again we ordered some "pulutan" - the famous sisig.

Another dish we ordered...

Aside from the chicken barbecue and ostrich meat we ordered "Isol" or chicken's butt in english.
It goes well with ice cold beer!

Is this how you drink fresh buko juice?

Nao san demonstrate the right way of sipping or drinking buko ( coconut ) juice from the fruit. I'm not sure though if we consider coconut a fruit?

Different ways of eating the chicken part 2

Nao san shows how boxer's eat the chicken. And lastly me; eat the chicken with gusto!

Different ways of eating the chicken part 1

There are different ways of eating here in " Dear Manok ". First picture is Wataru san eating ostrich meat. He said he wants to eat healthy food and BEER. Second picture is Yone san; mmmm ...... how do I describe this way of eating? Anyway, just let the pictures speak for itself.

Dinner in " Dear Manok (Chicken)"

" Dear Manok " is the name of a restaurant which specializes in chicken barbecue. Eating here is a bit messy so it is recommended that you use your hands.

Enjoying a great dinner

Enjoying the dinner my best friend cooked.
My best friend together with his eldest daughter and son.
The youngest daughter and me.

Cooking of my Best Friend

My friend cooked Italian Tomato Spaghetti using only fresh local ingredients meaning no tomato sauces from the grocery but only real tomatos mixed with spices. To accompany the spaghetti we had Hungarian Sausage and Italian Red Wine.

Sunday Dinner in My Best Friend's House

My best friend's children ... aren't they adorable? Before dinner had the chance to play with them.

Kop Kum Kap! For a great Thai dinner

Last week had the opportunity to taste authentic thai food courtesy of my brother's best friend. He learned cooking thai food not in Thailand but in Australia ( I hope got it right! ). We had Pad Thai and Steam Fish Thai Style; my sister-law cooked fried rolls stuffed with creamy shrimp meat. To quench our thirst we had Italian Red Wine. The food was so good that another friend of my brother just came all the way from Manila to join us.

Last March 14, 2006

Last March 14 in celebration of " White Day"; we had a small celebration for our 4 ladies. We had " Yellow Cab Pizza", Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Marble Ice Cream.

I just love "LECHON"

Lechon (Tagalog: Litson) is a roasted whole pig or cattle cooked in charcoal and is the national food of the Philippines. Lechon is cooked during national festivities (known as Barrio Fiestas) and holiday season. Lechon was originally a Spanish cuisine and can be found in many other Hispanic countries. Leche means milk in Spanish and lechón originally meant suckling piglet. Other historical evidences trace the origin of Lechon to the Chinese immigrants.

Part of the City

This was taken from the penthouse of my cousin. You can see a part of the port, the large orange brown building is actually SM Cebu and beside it the tall building is supposedly a hotel. But until now it is still unoperational.

Last week went to Cebu City

Had the opportunity to attend a gathering of the chinese community here in Cebu. Though not all members where able to attend; nevertheless it was a success in my part since was able to meet some important people of the city. Next day went to a private island resort which the owners are planning to develop it and open to the public. Wanted to take some pictures but decided not to coz they wanted to keep it private until it is ready for the public.

During my stay in cebu, was able to visit downtown cebu or as they say the center of the city.
Here are some pictures I took from the inside of the car. Might notice a reflection of the flash of my mobile phone and the other a reflection of the dashboard of the car.

Margie's Kitchen

Last weekend went to Butuan City. It's a 3 hour travel by car from Cagayan de Oro City. We went there for some business meeting and at the same time met my relatives who are busy with the on going construction of their restaurant which would open either this coming 8th or 14th of the month. In the afternoon decided to stay in a cafe...or may I say the only "cafe" in the city. Margie's Kitchen Cafe. They are known for there pastries like silvana and cookie monster. Whenever you are in Butuan City don't forget to drop by the Margie's Kitchen Cafe.
