松竹梅 (しょうちくばい) Shochikubai
松 (まつ) - Pine Tree
竹 (たけ) - Bamboo
梅 (梅) - Plum Tree
Putting the names of these three kinds of trees together makes the phrase shochikubai, a symbolic expression of auspicious mattes. These plants are highly valued in winter because they are strong againts the cold, and they are used as felicitous decorations for celebratory events, as with the New Years's pine and bamboo decorations or at weddings. The pine, as the tree that stands for Japan, is often drawn in the background of Japanese paintings. The bamboo is used as raw material for handicrafts and flutes. The plum tree is not only enjoyed for its flowers, but its fruit is used for food, in medicine, and, since ancient times, as an important preserved food.

After the seminar...few drinks in Nakano...
After attending a whole day seminar with a colleague; we decided to have a few drinks in a yakitori in Nakano. This is my first time to drink HOPPY a non alcohol beer. But here in Japan you drink it mix with sho-chu ( sort of japanese version of vodka or whiskey) and a piece of lemon thus it would still come out as a alcoholic beverage.

The Final Step....
Slice the cake but you need to have an assistant in doing this( should be the opposite sex ). And always remember you should do these together with a group of people who would imagine that they are eating the cake eventhough it's only in their dreams. Look at the picture and you can see the different expressions...
